Structure of Pain.001 Message

Pain.001 and Pain.002 Message Flows

Pain.001 (Customer Credit Transfer Initiation) is used by a corporate to send request to a bank for movement of funds.

Pain.002 (Customer Payment Status Report) is used to give the status of instructions previously received by the bank from a corporate.

Pain.001 (Customer Credit Transfer Initiation) -

  1. Is used by a corporate to send request to a bank for movement of funds.
  2. Comes under the CGI-MP working group
  3. Two blocks - Group Header and the Payment Information
  4. The Payment Information contains characteristics that apply to the debit side of the payment transactions included in the credit transfer initiation e.g, debtor and debtor agent
  5. Another block nested within the Payment Information block called the Credit Transfer Transaction Information which contains elements related to the credit side of the transaction, such as Creditor and Creditor Agent

Structure of Pain.002 Message

pain.002 message structure

Pain.002 (Customer Payment Status Report) -

  1. Is used to give the status of instructions previously received by the bank from a corporate
  2. Three blocks - Group Header, Original Group Information and Status, Original Payment Information And Status.
  3. The status update can be given on the level of group of transactions in the 'Original Group Information and Status' block or separate statuses for each request can be given in the 'Original Payment Information And Status' block
